The position of the census designated place of Honolulu is North at 21°18'32" , and West at 157°49'34" . The only location which is located on the mainland near to the census designated place of Honolulu is the Point Arena at California Light House. This is situated at a distance of two thousand four hundred and forty five nautical miles, which is the equivalent to three thousand seven hundred and eighty seven kilometers. There are some islands of the Aleutian Islands of Alaska which are situated a little closer to the census designated place of Honolulu as compared to Point Arena at California Light House.

Because of this position, the climate of the census designated place of Honolulu can be classified as being in the tropics. This is the case of most of the area. Even though the climate is in this category, the weather of Honolulu, that is the humidity and the temperatures as well, are both influenced by the location of Honolulu, which is in the middle of the ocean. Throughout most of the year, there is a California Current which passes through the islands of Hawaii. It is this current which provides a cooling effect to the census designated place of Honolulu. This happened in the year 1994 on September 19. And highest temperature which was ever been recorded to have reached was fifty three degrees Fahrenheit, and this happened in the year 1998 on January 31. The same lowest temperature was also reached in the years 1972 and 1948, as well as a number of other times.
